Phil Wolstenholme was the first digital visual artist in Sheffield, creating computer images for over 20 years, and has produced many notable album covers, magazine illustrations, posters and animations for video.

This exhibition features a selection of Phil’s most important album cover work and other computer images produced over his career to date.

Includes work created for Designers Republic, 808 State, Cabaret Voltaire, The Orb, Warp Records, and The Lovers, as well as more recent commissions and special works previously unseen in the UK

To An Independent Listener – Delia Derbyshire sound installation

A sound installation by Dr David Butler and Camilo Salazar from the Delia Derbyshire Archive at The University of Manchester. Featuring a number of Delia’s recordings in their original format, this is the chance to delve into the sonic world of this highly influential pioneer who arranged the original Dr Who theme and went onto influence a new generation of artists including Sonic Boom, Aphex Twin and The Chemical Brothers.

Sheffield’s online musical resource Uncommon People will launch during the festival week. The website is designed to trace a ‘family tree’ of Sheffield’s music. The launch is the beginning of a website that members of the public can upload information to, submit photos, memories (written, spoken or visual) and footage. Get rummaging for old footage and films and we can reformat them for you and add it to this unique resource – we are working with Yorkshire Film Archive to find those little visual musical gems of the region.

Sensoria are delighted that Morgan Neville is travelling from Los Angeles to be a special guest. Following the screening of Johnny Cash’s America, he will be interviewed on stage by Sensoria Chair Adrian Wootton and take questions from the audience.

Sensoria 2010 – Call for Entries

Following a highly successful second year, Sensoria, the UK’s festival of film and music will be back in April 2010 for its third edition. The dates for next year are 23 – 29 April.

Call For Entries

Sensoria is now looking for exciting new work in the realms of music and film – this can include fiction features or short films with an innovative soundtrack, music related biopics, music documentary and truly exceptional music video. Films should have been completed after 2007.

Sensoria prefers music submissions that outline how their proposed project or set includes an innovative, exciting use of visuals.

There is no submission fee.

Submissions should include a CD or DVD, short synopsis, two production stills and full contact details. They should arrive no later than 30 November at the following address:

Engaging, at times quite touching, doc that follows several of the 10 to 15 year old competitors in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The children from Georgia, Malta, Belgium and Bulgaria have very strong but different drives to succeed and surprisingly non-pushy parents. A genuine crowd pleaser.

This incredibly personal film on the life of folk songwriter and performer Vashti Bunyan, sees her retrace her caravan journey from London to the Hebrides which she originally completed in an idealistic personal quest in the 60s.

Bunyan dropped out of performing for 30 odd years but has recently returned, with great acclaim, influencing contemporary artists, such as Devendra Banhart.
